ABOUT GNB

Conceived in the year of 2000 the Gold’N Bluez Dance Team has become a staple and monumental force of a dance team in the SWAC. A university entity the team is a year round machine that is trained technically in all of the various dance genres. Working with industry choreographers and dancers around the country they truly the best at what they do. The team is a hard-working organization of the university that participates in many community as well as campus functions. As a team they have won various awards and accolades. The team has held the title of SWAC Dance Team Champions numerous years as well as holds a 1st place win at Worldwide Spirit Association in 2007, Infinity Dance Showcase winners for 2010-11, and Black College National Awards. They have been recently featured at the 2010-12 Bayou Classic Greek Show as well as a special performer for the New Orleans Hornets Game. As the competition dancers for the university the Gold’N Bluez are also the Basketball Dancers and perform at every home game as well as some away games.  They are all hard working students who keep good academic averages as well as entertain the university and represent it very well in the arena of dance. The team has been on several recruitment efforts and has been featured in many industry performances with artists, videos, movies, and even the recent Superbowl Halftime show.

 

Audition for the dance team is held the first week of a Fall Academic School Year and is a three day extensive audition process. In search for the 12-14 best the ladies are tested on their technical levels as well as how quickly they can pick up on routines. Collegiate dance skills are needed to gain membership as well as a great working attitude and a genuine love for dance. Self- funded the team does have many fundraising projects as well as gain support from various groups on the campus and community. Making appearances in the community and helping out with various organizational programming makes the team the well rounded group they are. Interested in membership?
